High Commission of Sri Lanka in Kuala Lumpur has the honour to receive the Delegation of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Sri Lanka, led by Colonel W. R. Rodrigo, RWP, USP, psc, as part of their regional study tour to Malaysia.
The delegation comprised mid-level officers from Sri Lanka Army, Navy and Air Force. They were warmly welcomed by Acting High Commissioner Mr. M. I. Mohamed Rizvi along with members of High Commission staff and and were briefed on the functions of the High Commission in serving the Sri Lankan community in Malaysia.
The delegates visited the Malaysian Institute of Defence and Security, the Malaysian Armed Forces Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, the Royal Malaysian Air Force in Subang, the National Centre for Defence Studies (PUSPAHANAS), and the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) in Lumut, Perak.
The Acting High Commissioner outlined the core functions and responsibilities of a diplomatic mission, with particular emphasis on advancing Sri Lanka’s bilateral relations with Malaysia, fostering multilateral cooperation within the region, and promoting investment, trade, and tourism. He further elaborated on the Mission’s ongoing efforts to safeguard the welfare and well-being of Sri Lankan expatriates residing in Malaysia. Mrs. Pavithra Mandahasini, Consular Officer briefed the participants on the functions related to consular work, while Mrs. Thushari Perera, Second Secretary of the Employment and Welfare Division, provided a briefing on labour related matters.
The visit provided an opportunity for the delegates to gain a deeper understanding of Malaysia and Sri Lanka relations and the role of the High Commission in further strengthening these ties.
