The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Malaysia, in collaboration with Port City Colombo, successfully organized the Investor, Trade and Tourism Forum 2025 on 11 July 2025 at the prestigious Royal Selangor Club, Kuala Lumpur.
The event was graced by the presence of Hon. Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka, who attended as the Chief Guest. Delivering the keynote address, the Hon. Minister underscored Sri Lanka’s strategic geographic location, progressive investor-friendly policies, and the transformative vision behind Port City Colombo – poised to become a future hub for financial and professional services in South Asia.
Mr. M. I. Mohamed Rizvi, Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Malaysia, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of the forum, particularly in the context of Sri Lanka’s ongoing economic recovery, the emergence of a stable two-thirds majority government, and growing investor confidence reinforced by improving financial indicators.
A comprehensive video presentation on Port City Colombo showcased the project’s immense potential for foreign investment, while SriLankan Airlines conducted a dedicated session promoting Sri Lanka as a premier travel destination.
The forum witnessed robust participation, attracting nearly sixty business leaders, dignitaries, and stakeholders. Notable attendees included YDM Tengku Maha Kurnia Diraja Tengku Saifan Rafahan Bin Tengku Dato Setia Putra Alhaj, a distinguished member of the Royal Selangor family; YB Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia; and representatives from the Federation of Malaysian Sri Lankan Organizations, Malaysia–Sri Lanka Business Council, Malaysian Indian Tour and Travel Association, Kuala Lumpur Malay Chamber of Commerce, Sinhalese Association, Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), Tourism Malaysia, National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia, and Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
An interactive Q&A session followed, where participants engaged directly with the Hon. Minister and officials, exploring new avenues for investment, bilateral cooperation, and tourism development.
The evening concluded with a networking reception featuring an exquisite spread of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, offering guests a taste of the island’s rich cultural and culinary heritage.
