The Acting High Commissioner Mr. M. I. Mohamed Rizvi had a productive discussion with Dr. Tharanga Kumari Wickramasooriya and her Malaysian team on strengthening the presence of Sri Lankan Ayurvedic products and wellness services in the Malaysian market.
The meeting focused on introducing authentic Sri Lankan Ayurvedic products to Malaysia through the Malaysian Health Authority, ensuring regulatory compliance while promoting the rich heritage of Sri Lanka’s indigenous healing traditions. The discussion highlighted the global rise in demand for natural and holistic remedies and the strong potential for Sri Lankan Ayurveda to contribute meaningfully to Malaysia’s wellness and healthcare sectors.
During the engagement, both sides also explored the possibility of establishing a dedicated Sri Lankan Ayurvedic Treatment Centre in Kuala Lumpur. Such a centre would not only offer traditional therapies and wellness treatments but would also serve as a platform to showcase Sri Lanka’s centuries-old healing practices to a wider Malaysian and international audience.
The Acting High Commissioner emphasized the Mission’s commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance trade, investment, and cultural cooperation between Sri Lanka and Malaysia. He noted that Ayurveda, as a recognised component of Sri Lanka’s national identity and traditional knowledge system, holds significant potential for expansion within Malaysia’s growing wellness market.
