

High Commission of Sri Lanka in Kuala Lumpur honoured to host the Meeladun Nabi Symbolic Programme on Thursday, 11 September 2025, at the High Commission premises, marking a joyous occasion of communal harmony and fellowship. The event brought together over 70 distinguished guests including Muslim Religious leaders, Buddhist Monks, members of the Sri Lankan Muslim Professionals and Business Association (SLAMP), representatives from Malaysian Sinhalese Association, University Students Representatives and Sri Lankan Community.
The event commenced with the National Anthem of Sri Lanka, followed by the recitation of the Holy Quran (Kirath) by Al- Hafiz Mohamed Usman Nawshad Muhiyadeen. Acting High Commissioner M. I. Mohamed Rizvi gave the welcome remarks.This was followed by Salawath recited by Dr. Sayyid Hussain Abdeen, Secretary of SLAMP.
Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ismath Ramzy spoke about the important contributions of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) to religion, social justice, morality, governance, and human rights, and how his influence continues worldwide. Venerable Dr. Reatha Maha Thero from the Rawang Spiritual Center gave a speech on interfaith dialogue, stressing the role of religious leaders in promoting peace, compassion, and cooperation across different faiths.
The programme ended with closing remarks from Al-Haj Mohamed Mousoom Imamudeen, President of SLAMP who emphasized the importance of events like this in bringing together all Sri Lankan communities. The gathering concluded with refreshments.
As part of its Public Diplomacy initiatives, the High Commission organizes major community events to promote integration and unity among all Sri Lankans. These efforts aim to foster tolerance, compassion, and goodwill across diverse communities.
