The annual Katina Ceremony of the Bodhiraja Buddhist Society, Kuantan

The annual Katina Ceremony of the Bodhiraja Buddhist Society, Kuantan was held on 26-27 October 2019 under the patronage of Air Chief Marshal Kapila Veedhiya Bandara Jayampathy, H.E. the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Malaysia and with the participation of a large number of Sri Lankan and other Buddhist devotees residing in the Malaysia.

The Religious ceremony, led by the Most Ven. Dr. Omalpe Sobhita Maha Thero, the Chief Incumbent of Most Ven. Guruwala Suseela Thero of Bodhiraja Buddhist Society and hundred Buddhist monks of Sri Lanka. The ceremony was conducted by Mr. Cheok Teck Guan, the President of the Bodhiraja Buddhist Society, Kuantan.

The Katina Ceremony commenced on 26 October evening with overnight chanting of Pirith conducted by Most Ven. Dr. Omalpe Sobhita Maha Thero. The Sri Lankan Buddhist monks who arrived for the occasion from all parts of Sri Lanka, H. E. the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka and his family members and a large number of Sri Lankan and other Buddhist devotees residing in Malaysia attended the ceremony.

On the following day, mid-day alms giving ceremony was held for 100 Buddhist monks and the Katina robe was offered to the Maha Sangha at Bodhiraja Buddhist Society, Kuantan with the participation of a large number of Buddhist devotees.
