Visit of Hon. Tilak Marapana, PC., MP. Minister of Foreign Affairs to Malaysia, 27 August 2018

Hon. Tilak Marapana, PC., MP. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka visited Malaysia on the invitation of Honourable YB Dato’ Saifuddin bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia on 27 August 2018.

During the visit Foreign Minister Marapana, PC., MP. held bilateral discussion with his counterpart Foreign Minister YB Dato’ Abdullah and called on YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah binti Dr. Wan Ismail Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia.

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister recalled the special relations and the celebration of 60 years Diplomatic Relations reaffirmed the strong relations that bind the two countries. They reiterated their commitment to expand cooperation and further develop the close relations to the mutual benefit of both countries and its peoples. The Foreign Minister also extended an invitation to the Malaysian Foreign Minister to visit Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lanka Foreign Minister also called on YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah binti Dr. Wan Ismail Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia. Foreign Minister recalled the close special relations that exists between the two countries and also congratulated YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah binti Dr. Wan Ismail for her appointment as the first female Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia. The Foreign Minister Marapana on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka extended an invitation to the Deputy Prime Minister to visit Sri Lanka.

HE A.J.M. Muzammil, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka presented to the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Foreign Minister the commemorative publication on “Sri Lanka and Malaysia 60 years of Diplomatic Relations and more” which articulates the multifaceted bilateral relations which bears testimony to the flourishing friendship. High Commissioner of Sri Lanka and officers of the High Commission were associated with the meetings.

High Commissioner of Sri Lanka hosted a luncheon in honour of the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister at the ‘Sri Lanka House’ the Official Residence of the High Commissioner which included senior officials of the Foreign Ministry and also leading members of the Community.
