Bilateral Meeting Between H.E. Air Chief Marshal (Rtd.) Sumangala Dias and Datuk Ahamad Terrirudin Bin Mohamed Salleh, Attorney General of Malaysia

His Excellency Air Chief Marshal (Rtd.) Sumangala Dias had a productive bilateral meeting with Datuk Ahmad Terrirudin Bin Mohamed Salleh, Attorney General of Malaysia, on 1 April 2024. The meeting, which took place at Hon.the Attorney General’s Department in Putrajaya, discussed various priorities of mutual interest between Sri Lanka and Malaysia.

During the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation between law enforcement authorities of the both countries. They agreed to work towards the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Mutual Legal Assistance on Criminal Matters between Sri Lanka and Malaysia, aimed at strengthening collaboration in addressing transnational crimes.

Furthermore, High Commissioner Sumangala Dias and Hon Attorney General expressed their shared commitment to expediting legal assistance particularly in expediting court hearings for Sri Lankan cases in Malaysia. Mr. Mohamed Rizvi, Counselor, along with senior officials from the Office of the Attorney General of Malaysia, were also present during the meeting, emphasizing the collaborative efforts between the two nations in this endeavor.

The meeting marks a significant step forward in strengthening the longstanding ties between Sri Lanka and Malaysia, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration for the benefit of both nations.
