Annual Iftar Programme Celebrates Unity and Diversity at the Sri Lanka High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The Sri Lanka High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, proudly hosted its Annual Iftar Programme on Tuesday, 26th March 2024, at the High Commission Premises, marking a joyous occasion of communal harmony and fellowship. Over 150 distinguished guests graced the event, representing a diverse cross-section of society, including Sri Lankan Muslim devotees, esteemed Islamic religious leaders, prominent Malaysian business figures, immigration officials, police officers, Malaysian Muslims, and other Malaysian government officials.
His Excellency Air Chief Marshal (Rtd.) Sumangala Dias, High Commissioner, delivered an inspiring address underscoring the significance of the holy month of Ramzan for Muslims worldwide and the invaluable contributions made by the Muslim community to the Sri Lankan economy. He expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity to host this meaningful Iftar event fostering unity among multi-ethnic and pluralistic Sri Lankan societies.
The event featured a profound sermon delivered by Sri Lankan Ulama Al Shaikh Ashfak Sha (Dheeni), enlightening attendees on the spiritual significance of Ramalan. Following the sermon, Ustaz Al Sheikh Moulavi Mohamed Salih led prayers for peace and prosperity, invoking blessings upon all present and beyond.
The evening concluded on a culinary high note, with guests treated to a delectable spread of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, including the renowned Ceylon Milk Tea and fragrant Ceylon Biryani, symbolizing the rich cultural heritage and culinary delights of Sri Lanka.
