The Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Kuala Lumpur Mr. M.I. Mohamed Rizvi had the honor of an audience with His Royal Highness Raja Di-Hilir Perak, Duli Yang Amat Mulia Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris A’fifullah Shah, the Crown Prince of the State of Perak, Malaysia, on 24th January 2025, in the esteemed presence of Her Highness Raja Puan Muda Perak.
During the courtesy meeting, the Acting High Commissioner provided an insightful briefing on Sri Lanka’s political stability, the nation’s remarkable economic recovery, and the significant progress achieved in strengthening foreign exchange reserves. The discussion also highlighted the rapid expansion of the tourism sector, reflecting Sri Lanka’s overall economic resurgence. His Royal Highness with the Royal Family members were cordially invited to visit Sri Lanka with the Malaysian investors as well as to experience her natural beauty and cultural heritage.
As part of this diplomatic engagement, the Greentown Indian Cultural Society (GICS) organized a spectacular cultural performance on the evening of 24th January. The event was graced by the presence of His Royal Highness Raja Di-Hilir Perak, the Acting High Commissioner Mohamed Rizvi, and the Deputy High Commissioner of India in Kuala Lumpur. The vibrant showcase, titled Atulya Bharat, featured mesmerizing traditional dance performances and was attended by over 750 distinguished guests.
It is noteworthy that Perak Tourism hosted a visit of “Jaffna Tamil Cultural Team” from Sri Lanka in 2024. In a continued effort to foster cultural exchange, Perak Tourism is collaborating with the Greentown Indian Cultural Society and the High Commission to invite a Kandyan Dance Group from Sri Lanka in 2025. This initiative will further enhance the cultural ties between Sri Lanka and Malaysia, strengthening bilateral relations and promoting tourism.
