The Global Buddhist Congregation and World Buddhist Sangha Youth Summit – Malaysia

The 2nd Global Buddhist Congregation and World Buddhist Sangha Youth Summit held in Bentong, Pahang on July 22.Over 300 participants comprising monks, laymen and representatives from 45 Buddhist organizations gathered at the Dharma Buddhist University (DBU) campus in Malaysia for an international summit. The Summit was jointly organized by World Alliance of Buddhist, Dharma Buddhist University of Malaysia and Sectary General of World Buddhist Sagha Youth.Over 100 Theros from 24 countries took part in the program.Several dignitaries from Sri Lanka including 38 Buddhist priests participated at this event. This include, Mahanayaka Thero of Asgiriya chapter, Most Venarable Warakagoda Sri GunarathanaMahanayaka Thero, Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe Hon Minister of Justice and Buddhasasana and Chief Minister of the Central Province Hon Sarath Ekanayake.

Mahanayaka Thero of Asgiriya chapter, Hon Minister of Justice and Buddhasasana and Chief Minister of the Central Province addressed the gathering on the Theme of “Global Alliance of Buddhist Awakening’. Transport Minister of Malaysia DatukSeri Liow Tiong Lai also addressed the summit as the guest of honour. Awards were also presented to the Buddhist leaders who are working together with unity and harmony to propagate, protect and preserve the Budda Dhamma for next generation. Ven Bhanate B Sri Saranankara Nayake Maha Thero of Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple, Senthul organized an almsgiving on 24 July at the Senthul Temple.

H.E. the High Commissioner AJM Muzammil aslo met Mahanayaka Thero of Asgiriya chapter, Most Ven WarakagodaSri Gunarathana Mahanayaka Thero and Other Religious leadersat the Temple. Staff of High commission too attended the programe.
